Cookie policy

Effective 2026-08-29.

The short version

Two things can be stored on your device by this site: the record of the answer you give the consent dialog, and Google Analytics, which runs only if you say yes. The analytics tool that runs by default stores nothing at all.

That is the whole list. If it changes, this table changes with it.

Changing your mind

Use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. Two things are worth saying plainly about what declining does.

Google Analytics is removed: the cookies it set are cleared and the tag stops loading.

Umami stores nothing, so there is nothing to remove. But the page you were on when you declined has already been counted, because Umami starts before the dialog is answered. Nothing is counted after that. The count that already happened holds a page address and no identifier, and there is nothing on your device to delete.

Why the three are treated differently

Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive is about storing or reading information on your device. Umami does neither, which is why it needs no permission. Google Analytics does, which is why it waits for yours. The consent record also stores something, being a cookie, but it exists only to keep the answer you gave, which is the one thing that same rule exempts, and it is set only once you have answered.

We would rather explain the distinction than ask you to consent to something that does not require it.

If the dialog does not work in your browser

Nothing is measured. The consent dialog fails to build on some older browser engines, and rather than counting people who have no way to decline, this site starts nothing at all when that happens. Losing those visits from our own numbers is the right side to be wrong on.
